Alcohol Involved in Fatal Rock Creek Accident | Virginia DUI Attorney
On the frigid morning of Sunday, January 3, 2009, a jogger notices a tire sticking out of the water of Rock Creek and called 911. Police and rescue personnel discovered a vehicle that had plunged into Rock Creek where they found 22-year-old Joshua Kuhlman barely alive. Kuhlman apparently had been in the freezing Rock Creek water for hours as ice had formed around and on the vehicle. Joshua Kuhlman was transported to a local hospital but later died from cardiac arrest.
Kuhlman’s roommate and girlfriend revealed to investigators that it was their opinion that he too intoxicated to safely drive on Saturday night which is why Kuhlman planned to stay home while his friends went out. Although investigators are unclear as to exactly why Kuhlman was on the road after assuring his friends of his intentions to stay home or how the crash actually occurred, it is believed that alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
