Apple iPad Installed in Car’s Dashboard | Virginia Distracted Driving Attorney

It was kind of inevitable. Both Apple geeks and car geeks love mixing technologies. Doug Bernards of SoundMan Car Audio in California just happened to be the first to install the new iPad into the dashboard of a car.

Is it potentially illegal to mount this into the dash of a car?

The iPad doesn’t come with the same features as the iPhone—no texting or making calls from this device. The process is similar to that of hooking up an iPod to car stereo speakers, or a GPS with large display screen.

But at what point will law enforcement draw the line? The iPad is being positioned as a “tablet computer,” and most people would agree that installing a computer into a car falls under the category of distracted driving.

Currently in Virginia, holders of a learner’s permit and anyone under the age of 18 are prohibited from using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle.

If you or someone you know has been involved in an accident caused by distracted driving, an experienced attorney can make a difference in your case. Contact The Parrish Law Firm for a free initial consultation.
