Consumer Reports says 2012 Honda Civic is a disappointment | Fairfax Traffic Attorney
After Consumer Reports evaluated the newly redesigned 2012 Honda Civic LX, it scored too low for them to recommend it and in fact was described as a disappointment. The long time highly rated king of the small sedan has fallen from its thrown as it was previously a top pick six times.
Consumer Reports found the following issues that were factored in this poor rating:
- Long stopping distances
- Cheap interior compared to other models in same class
- Annoying road noise
- Early body lean in corners
- Poor steering feedback
- Obvious cost cutting such as a lack of liner on the trunk lid and more poorly fitted hard plastic parts
- Poor stopping distance on wet roads
Honda Civics are widely known for their reliability and also high resale value. Due to their longevity on the road, the Civic has been on the top 10 stolen cars list for years. But this redesign is a serious step back from previous generations and does not stack up compared to its competition on options in the same price range. It seems the only thing good that Consumer Reports had to say was that is had great fuel economy.
