Former Alexandria Police Chief Regrets Drinking and Driving

David P. Baker was the police chief of Alexandria and had a normal life prior to a fateful decision he made to drink and drive with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.19 that changed his life forever on July 25, 2009. David Baker pled guilty to DUI, spent five days in jail, paid fines, had his driver’s license suspended, and resigned as police chief. He will later be eligible for restricted driving privileges with an ignition interlock system installed in his car. Baker describes the experience as humiliating, embarrassing, and “frightening is an understatement.”

In an effort to get the message out about the consequences of drunk driving, former Alexandria Police Chief David P. Baker describes his experience in a public service announcement (PSA) video by Checkpoint Strikeforce called “Even A Police Officer.”
