Ultimate Miscommunication Results in British Police Busting Windows | Manasass Traffic Attorney

After being issued a ticket, Robert Whatley, 70, of South Wales, thought he was free to leave the scene. When the recovering stroke victim told officers he was leaving the scene to get his medication at home, he thought he had the okay to leave the scene. After all, he had his ticket for failure to wear a seat belt in hand.

Whatley claims that he initially thought the officers were escorting him home during the pursuit, and only pulled aside when he thought something may be wrong. The police claim Whatley struck an officer as he left the initial scene (which he denies).

Still, it’s hard not to make a snap judgment based on the video from the police dashboard above.

If there’s one thing to take from this, it’s to always be on your best behavior when pulled over.

If you are in doubt, be sure to (politely) take note of the officer’s name and badge information. Then, don’t make a scene. Accept your ticket, then seek an experienced attorney. Arguing with the officer at the scene will most likely just result in more charges.
