Virginia State Police to Step Up Enforcement for Labor Day Weekend | Virginia Reckless Driving Attorney

Obviously not “step up” like Step Up 3 (but if you aren’t traveling this weekend, maybe you should go see that in 3D) though 75% of Virginia State Police troopers will be on patrol statewide.

Virginia experienced a sharp rise in traffic deaths over Labor Day weekend last year, with 14 deaths during the 4-day period (compared to 7 in 2008).

Yesterday marked the kickoff of the Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP)’s Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign, which united various regions to fight drunk driving.

In 2009, Virginia State Police arrested 164 drunk drivers, as well as citing 9,398 speeders and 2,587 reckless drivers.

Law enforcement will really be cracking down this year, so stay safe on the roads and enjoy your holiday weekend!
