Virginia State Police Urge Motorists to Drive Responsibly on St. Patrick’s Day | Virginia DUI Attorney
St. Patrick’s Day brings many celebrations and along with it many drunk drivers on Virginia’s roads. The Virginia State Police cite an astonishing NHTSA statistic that 37% of traffic fatalities on St. Patrick’s Day involve a drunk driver. In an effort to reduce alcohol related traffic fatalities, the Virginia State Police are warning excessive partiers that they will be out looking for you with DUI checkpoints and to party with a plan to avoid driving drunk.
If you decide to drink on St. Patrick’s Day, have a plan to get home safely. Consider booking a hotel room nearby, having a designated driver, taking METRO, or a FREE taxi ride sponsored by the Washington Region Alcohol Program’s (WRAP) SoberRide program.
WRAP’s 2010 St. Patrick’s Day SoberRide program will be offered from 4:00 pm, Wednesday, March 17, 2010 to 4:00 am Thursday, March 18, 2010 offering Washington, DC metropolitan area residents a FREE taxi ride of up to a $50.00 fare. You must call 800-200-8294 (TAXI) for the FREE taxi ride. Please refer to the Washington Region Alcohol Program’s (WRAP) website for details and limitations.
